I found this Alchemy book and thought it would be a good read for us to consider as a foundation on our Alchemy journey. It proves to be highly interesting in uncovering some fundamental aspects to alchemy. For instance, it gives some context to the environment in which alchemy first arose within society of ancient times.
As the author’s initial role was to trace the beginning of Alchemy itself, he inadvertently uncovers some historical events that seem to have lead to the discovery of Alchemy. I also noted that much of the foundational beliefs that most people within the community honorarily abide by doesn’t really have any logical base other than rudimentary relations. For instance, the obsession with mecury and this mysterious “red mercurial oil elixir” is based on nothing other than the fact that mercury when heated is red, just like blood that is also red. From that, it seems, a whole movement was formed to process mecury in a digestable form and simultaneously it was revered as an “all time life sustaining elixir”.
I will just say this, Mercury was so sought after that it later became the birth of many of the “Gods of India”.
There was this mixture/formula that I was initial curious about which lead to the discovery of this book. Anywho, I found it a good read nonetheless as I hope you would as well.
